We are gathered today to mourn the passing and reflect on the life of Alex Suerte Tiongson, who was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Alex was born on May 30, 1942, in the Philippines (Asingan, Pangasinan) to Alejandro and Alejandra Tiongson. He was the youngest of three siblings: Roland, the eldest brother, and Norma, his only sister.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Philippine College of Criminology and began his career as a Supervisor at A. Soriano Corporation. After moving to the US, he joined Nordstrom, where he started as a Security employee at Sonestown Galleria and transferred to the San Francisco Center and became Shoeshine. Alex later moved to the Nordstrom Arden Fair in Sacramento in 1989 and became the Shoe shine manager and retiring after more than 25 wonderful years with Nordstrom.
Alex was a family-oriented man who always put his loved ones first. In 1989, he and his devoted wife Remy purchased their first home in Sacramento—a place that became more than just a house. It was a welcoming haven not only for their own family, but also for relatives and friends in need of shelter, support, and love.
Alex was known for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering commitment to his family. Whether it was lending a helping hand, sharing a warm meal, or offering wise advice, Alex gave freely and without hesitation.
A devoted husband, a proud father, and a loyal friend, Alex lived his life with purpose and humility. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—gardening in the backyard, cooking his favorite dishes like dinuguan, papaitan and pinakbet. He was a dedicated father to his five children—Honey Lou, Dyan, Apo Alexis, Terry John, and Norman Michael—and a wonderful loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Elisza, Jazlyn, Jary, Morgan, Jaeco, Mason, and Happee, who affectionately called him Grumpy. His unwavering unconditional love, support and encouragement inspired his family to pursue success and to continuously improve themselves.
As we bid farewell to Alex Suerte Tiongson, we hold on to the warmth and generosity he so freely shared. His gentle spirit and unwavering dedication will continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched.
Rest peacefully in Heaven, Dad. Though you are no longer with us, your love lives on in our hearts forever. You will never be forgotten. We miss you deeply and will love you always 💗
We are sincerely grateful for your prayers and support.
Your comforting presence during this difficult time means more to out family that words can express.
