We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Alex Daniel Bastedo (68). Alex passed away on July 16, 2025 after a short illness, in Sacramento California.
Alex was born September 4, 1956 to Janet and Lester Bastedo in San Francisco, California. Alex’s father Lester was a Police Officer, and his mother Janet owned a beauty salon. He grew up in Daly City, California, and loved playing hockey, he went so far as to play semi pro as goalie for the Oakland Seals.
Alex is survived by his Sisters Melody and Linda, Son Justin, and Granddaughter Kailyn. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister Diane, and beloved Son Logan.
Alex started his career with Brooks Equipment Co, where he worked for 25 years. He traveled the country, setting up new warehouse locations and calling on Fire Equipment customers before retiring in 1999. In 2000 Alex settled in the Sacramento Area, and opened his own fire equipment company, River City Fire Equipment. He was able to grow the business into a successful endeavor that he sold to a Fortune 500 company, Cintas, in 2025.
Alex was an avid golfer and he was a member of the San Francisco Olympic club for 35 years. He loved hunting and fishing with his friends and loyal yellow labs, Sally, Katie and Annie. He loved riding his Harley Davidson and taking road trip adventures in one of his many cars. He loved classic rock music, wine tasting, and telling stories of his many adventures.
Alex rarely met someone he didn’t like, he made impressions on people everywhere he went. He was so loved by his close friends and loved ones he referred to as his “family”. Alex was known for his generous spirit and kind nature, he would help anyone he could whether loaning a car or providing work, he always found a way to help others.
There are not enough words to explain the void his loss will leave in our lives and our hearts.
