Aldo past peacefully into the arms of God on the morning of September 26, 2024. His wife of 60 years Mocca Jean Sordi, the love of his life, preceded in death 11 years earlier.
Aldo was born on March 30, 1930 in Westwood California, a small town in Lassen County. He was the youngest of 4 brothers of italian immigrants Guiseppe and Virgina.
As a young boy, Aldo spent much of his free time in the Westwood countryside, where he developed a passion for hunting all types of wildlife, and meeting up with others who shared his passion. A good athlete, he played on the local high school basketball team, where he developed many lifelong friendships that followed him throughout his life. After graduation, in 1948, he immediately went to work for the local Red River Lumber Company. In 1950, he also worked for the United States Forest Service of Westwood. Aldo was an army veteran, 1951-1952 and served in the 24th Infantry Division of the Korean War.
Soon after leaving the military, Aldo married his sweetheart Mocca Jeffries, also of Westwood. He completed an AA degree at Lassen City College, and soon after, in 1956, the couple moved to Sacramento, where Aldo began attending Sacramento State College, and graduated with a BS degree in 1958. The family grew as the couple raised 3 children, Kerry, Daria, and Marc.
In 1958, Aldo began a 37 year career in State government, at the Department of Human Resources. First working in the Intake/Placement and Human Resource Division at an outreach program field office. He was then asked to supervise seven satellite offices in Sacramento which were located in disadvantaged minority areas and ultimately was able to place many hardcore clients in firms that previously were not integrated.
In 1977, Aldo accepted a promotion as a Employment Program Manager at the Employment Development Department, in the Monitor Advocate Office, which was responsible for overseeing the Migrant Seasonal Farmworker Program. He was a certified bilingual Spanish-speaking department representative, and provided bilingual assistance to clients for many years. Aldo's excellent communication skills were invaluable as he was asked to assist the Chief in developing policy and oversee the Job Services Complaint System. He retired in 1995, but continued to work as a retired annuitant until 2003, in the EDD Information Security Office.
A natural salesman, and an astute businessman, Aldo was quite generous with his free time and was always available for his neighbors and friends. He was may times called upon to help someone negotiate a large transaction, or provide support in matters of business. No doubt, people were drawn to his infectious personality, always wanting to be around him.
It was apparent though, that what brought the most joy to Aldo's heart was his love for his wife Mocca, and their children and grandchildren. He loved being around his family and supported their decisions, always parting wisdom, at the most important times. Aldo was truly a people person, and will be very much missed.
His wife Mocca passed away in 2013, and brothers Mario in 2003, Angelo in 2012, and Gino in 2017. Aldo is survived by sons Kerry and (Marc - and his wife Kristin and granddaughter Alexa) and daughter (Daria - and grandson Rob and his wife Jennifer, and great granddaughter Presley).
