Acelita Dy Amparo of Sacramento died peacefully, surrounded by her family on June 1, 2026 in Sacramento, CA after a long illness.
A memorial service with mass will be held at 11 am on June 9, 2026 at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819. Reception to follow at the Garden Room of East Lawn Memorial Park. Acelita was born on January 20, 1949 in Camarines Norte, Philippines. She married Eugenio Amparo on Sept 18, 1973 in Cardona, Rizal, Philippines. She graduated with a Medical Doctor degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 1972. After she completed a residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certified her and she practiced as a psychiatrist in Texas and California throughout her career. Acelita is preceded in death by Father Dy Shing Sy (aka Joaquin Dy), Mother Felisa Careceja, Siblings Hipolito Dy, Gracita Dy Tanchangco, Alicia Dy Cruz, Marcial Dy, Pempe Dy Acelita is survived by Husband Gene, Son Michael and Marcie Amparo, Daughter Lisa Amparo and Dan Kupsco, and Grandchildren Christopher and Lauren Amparo, and Brother Alan Caballero.
